Technology officials offer disaster tips

With the spring thunderstorm season having arrived for "Tornado Alley," officials with Oklahoma City- based Perimeter Technology Center shared some thoughts on protecting valuable data.

Here are some recommendations from Stan Chase, chief operating officer at Perimeter, which operates a secure data centerthat houses servers and data for scores of companies:

Assess the critical elements of the business. Who and what are the core elements that must remain online for your business to function.

Create redundancy for your data infrastructure and Internet connectivity in a location that is environmentally controlled and protected.

Have off-site recovery space available for key employees and key information technology infrastructure.

Have a plan. Create plans and protocol in case of a disaster. And test them before disaster strikes.
